Sumter police were called to an Applebee's last week after they received a
report of a man who tried to pay his lunch tab with a $1 trillion bill.
Michael Williams, 53, tried to pay the bill with his debit card, but after
it was declined, he offered to pay his tab with a $1 trillion bill, police
said.
Williams was arrested on an unrelated charge of contempt of magistrate's

I read a book about a Polish man who, as a boy, was sent to Siberia during
the 1940's, when Poland was being invaded by the Nazi regime as well as the
Soviets. The man who authored the book was the Polish man's doctor, who
knew what he had been through as a child, and though it was difficult to
coax the story out of him, really dug into why certain bad actors in that

keep about 1,100 jobs in the U.S., is raising its prices.
United Technologies Corp., which owns Carrier, will raise prices for
residential and commercial HVAC equipment as much as 5 percent starting next
