Yes, the new ruling is that a warrant is not needed. Before you needed a
warrant, like prove to the judge you had some vague reason to be tracking
your movements and not just because of a hunch or because of your race or
religion. Now police can track you just for kicks, or more likely as a wide
net fishing expedition. Track enough muslims and eventually you'll find one
or two that is involved in drugs, gambling, prostitution or petty theft.

The religion's positive effect on civility and social order is widely
acknowledged cross different places/countries/cultures and over thousands of
years.
Maybe you need more common sense and be more careful about statistics.
Especially this kind of survey data on very vague concepts.
Keep in mind, none of us is the smartest. Don't be so sure of yourself. It's
much more complicated.

for me, discussing the general situation and living standard in
China is too big and too vague. you may not have all the stats
to back your claim up.
Qian's case is just a tip of the iceberg. I think there is a
general sense of distrust of the government among the public.
to point out the issues is for the government to face them and
deal with them earlier. i think it is for the public good of

其实大家也别太迷信律师了,因为效益比很差。
要相信自己,和中国人团结一心后的伟大群众力量。
我个人觉得重点必需是利用群众力量和互联网的宣传,
再加由互联网导致的传统媒体的报导,达到高效益的结果。
一个窝囊的人不会因为是律师就不再窝囊。
当年卡扎菲政变后其下属(少校)出面代表利比亚,
而伊朗的庞大律师团则代表伊朗,和米欧石油巨头谈判。
猜猜最后结果如何?
1。伊朗律师团先达成协议,取得大幅度的原油涨价。
伊朗国王巴勒维得到消息后相当高兴和满意。
2。不过几天,利比亚的军人谈判团也和米欧达成协议。
但米欧的石油巨头给利比亚的原油价大大高过给伊朗的。
3。消息传到伊朗国王巴勒维的耳朵,国王转喜为怒,
觉得他的这些留学西方法律学院毕业出来的伊朗律师团,
居然远远还不如一个从来没受过法律教育的利比亚少校军官。

That is possible. However, the policy itself was too vague to begin with.
It also goes back to the political environment where if some sort of
disturbance happens after you acted according to your own interpretation
instead of the "safer" interpretation, then you will be held personally
liable for the disturbance. In this environment, all risk takers are
eventually driven out of the system, and only people who wouldn't move
unless forced to are left.

Yesterday, a Wall Street Journal article entitled "Harvard's Asian
Problem" whose last paragraph stated:
"Let's hope that day is getting closer. . . the Supreme Court has
allowed schools to pursue diversity on campus in what it called a "holistic"
way. Now we see that in pursuit of diversity, schools treat some minorities
as less equal than others based solely on race. Nothing holistic-or
