in Chinese or something. How can you use western orcehstra
to play with songs in Chinese? And the vocal methods are
totally
not suitble to Chinese language.
Maybe I was very narrow minded. but I really don't feel like
it is easy for eastern music fit into western opera form.
And even for western opera. Can you tolerate listening
to atonal vocal music for an hour? If we don't want to copy
from Verdi and Puccini or something, even Berg.

可以认为，VERDI创作活动的中期是他在1849年写作的《路易莎.米勒》
(Luisa Miller) 开始，到1867年完成《唐.卡洛斯》(Don Carlos)开始，而
结束的。这个漫长时期的后半部分的作品又1857年写的《西蒙.勃卡内格拉》
(Simon Boccanegra, 这部歌剧后来又经过修改), 1859年写的《假面舞会》
(Un Ballo in Maschera) 和 1862年写成的《命运之力》(La Forz |

第一次看Renaissance的歌剧, (准确的说, 第一次现场看歌剧 //blush...)
感觉还行吧. 久仰Monteverdi和Poppea的盛名, 又加上听Handel的歌剧
听的正来劲, 早就心向往之了, 连下午的seminar都差点向教授请假,
赶着去看歌剧了. Monteverdi也可以称作意大利歌剧之父, 现存真正
可以称作杰作的最早的意大利歌剧就是他的奥非斯, Handel, Rossini,
Verdi等都是他老人家的徒子徒孙辈. Coronation of Poppea是Monteverdi
歌剧的巅峰之作, 讲的是暴君尼禄的故事, 可以说歌剧主要的题材,
爱情与背叛, 权力和阴谋, 这部歌剧里面全占了, 比较不可理解的是
结局是坏人阴谋得逞, 好人有的被杀, 有的被流放, 感觉那个时代是不
是就是那么颠倒黑白(联想起马基亚维利时代的意大利, 呵呵). 整个
舞台的布置和服饰都很简洁现代, 很搞笑的是尼禄的卫兵整得象是FBI
特工一样, 好多场景的背景是国会山和Was |
