Snoqualmie Pass 的雪崩控制：
这是炮兵的前进观测所。
每年大雪的时候，为了保持高速公路畅通，经常必须用爆破的方法，将山腰上已经堆积
但尚未崩下来的雪给炸下来，这叫做人工雪崩。目的是将山腰上积雪炸下来，清干净了
，未来几天之内就算再下雪，也不会造成意外的雪崩，伤及过往车辆。小雪的时候，
WSDOT 可以自己派人爬上山腰，埋炸药，然后引爆。但如果碰到大雪时，或者气候急剧
变化时，人工的方法一方面时效慢，二方面炸药威力小。这时 WSDOT 在军方的联络官
会与军方联系，动用美国陆军的 105 山炮，从几英里以外的地方进行地面炮击，用炮
弹把大雪打下来。
你拍照片这段地方是 Snoqualmie Pass 的重要隘口，公路因为地势而弯曲，炮兵的前
进观测官视野不佳，所以建造了这个观测所，让他可以在里面高喊 “向我开炮！”。

Pay by Plate不用装电子标签，过桥时扫描你的车牌，识别后自动扣除你账号里的钱。
与Pay by pass 相比：
好处：
1. 方便。 Pay by pass要往车窗上贴个标签，麻烦，没准还挡视线，某些车型的后视
镜还会干扰这个电子标签。
2. 保护隐私。那个电子标签是RFID, 任何第三方都可以装个扫描器，收集信息。
坏处：
1. 略贵一点。每次多50美分。但是对于我很少过桥来说，电子标签的成本（8刀一个）
要很长时间才能收回。

当然你说的没错，很少过桥的就不必折腾这个pass了，就算要过桥，也可以走I90。

time on I-405. I live nearby and I have seen the signs posted along the road
. Since I am going to take a flight from SeaTac, I paid more attention to
this. I found the info from WSDOT web site.
Here is the affected route. Detour is required.

契 AH-64 攻击直升机上的 70 火箭炮（响尾蛇太贵了，华盛顿州付不起）。但有一年
天候不佳，气流不稳定，直升机无法进山，最后还是从 Lewis-McChord Joint Base 派
了山炮过来。

but to approve it.
In 2012, the Legislature directed WSDOT to conduct an environmental study to
examine the potential effects of I‐90 tolling. The process involves
research, technical analysis, and extensive public outreach. All the public
and stakeholder feedback will be compiled and addressed as part of the EIS
and presented to the Legislature to inform their decision whether or not to
authorize tolls on I‐90.

Issaquah was in consideration.
I-405 express lane is already approved to be tolled from 2015.
