Car club ÖAMTC informed today (Fri) that the German company was asking
owners of the C (W204), E (W212, C207, A207) und GLK (X204) series to have
their vehicles checked at a garage amid potential steering malfunctions.
The possibly affected cars were produced between June 2009 and February 2010
, according to ÖAMTC, which added that Mercedes had no information
about accidents caused by the potential steering failures.
News of the Mercedes callback come only days after Toyota Europe boss Didier
Leroy claimed the Japanese car maker still has the utmost quality standards.
Toyota faced one of the biggest crises in its 73-year history when it had to
call back 19,000 cars in Austria and an overall eight million vehicles in
the world after a string of fatal accidents apparently caused by faulty
brakes and ill-fitting foot mats some months ago.
Leroy said in an interview with the Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper: "We
will continue to improve our quality assurance system – which is the best
in the world – even more. (…) Our quality did not decrease, it got better.
Now we must try to leave our competitors even further behind."
The Frenchman added: "We planned to sell 800,000 cars in Europe this year
before deciding to lower our outlook to 700,000 in April. Now it seems we
will reach our initial target." | a*o 发帖数: 19981 | 2 难怪大奔一天到晚要搞crash test,原来crash就是他们的主营业务啊,方向盘都不转
