Two people died last week in separate wrecks on Missouri 7 Highway.
On April 9, 56-year-old Robert Norman, Kingsville, was killed in a three-
vehicle crash while traveling northbound on Highway 7, a half-mile north of
Short Road in rural Pleasant Hill.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 9 a.m.
while Norman, driving a 2007 Toyota Yaris, and another vehicle, a 2009 GMC,
driven by Matthew Six, 45, Pleasant Hill, were stopped in traffic.
A third vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 28-year-old Amber Ralston
, Pleasant Hill, struck Norman’s vehicle in the rear, causing it to leave
the roadway.
Norman was killed on impact and pronounced dead at the scene by Pleasant
Hill EMS. His body was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiner.
Ralston received minor injuries and was transported to Lee’s Summit Medical
Center by ambulance. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the
crash.
A second crash on 7 Highway four days later killed a 26-year-old Pleasant
Hill man who was riding a motorcycle a few miles north of the Cass County
line at Stringtown Road.
The motorcyclist, Aaron Rash, was struck while driving a 2007 Suzuki
motorcycle northbound on Highway 7 at 1:41 p.m.
The MSHP reported that Rash was slowing down due to traffic when he was hit
from the behind by Lorenda Kidd, 44, Pleasant Hill, in a 2011 Mazda 2.
Rash was ejected from his bike and was hit by a third vehicle, a 2005 Ford
F150 driven by 39-year-old David Havlik, Pleasant HIll.
Rash was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Medical Examiner
. Kidd was transported to St. Luke’s East Hospital by Prairie Township EMS
with minor injuries.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Pleasant Hill Police Department
