I test drove it on a weekend last month, it is overall a nice car, silent,
with many safety features. my wife did not like it because it has a more
traditional look.
its AER is 87 miles per EPA rating. I bet you can get 100 miles if you drive
carefully (using regen, coasting, accel/deaccel smoothly). with the
occasional full charging (i.e. the "software" extender option), I believe
the real-life range can be anywhere between 110 to 130 miles for a careful
driver.
If I haven't bought a volt, I might have bought MBED as my commute car. it
has 5 seats compare to 4 in a volt, but the depth of the trunk is somewhat
similar.

这个software extender option是不是会影响电池寿命?
充电速度也不错用40A大概3.5小时充满。
感觉这款车蛮好的,不用等Tesla的Model E了。 |

it is meant to be used occasionally. I've been following the news of this
car for over a month before its US release. People asked if the "occasional
use" = "every week", so far, I haven't seen definitive answers. yes, use it
frequently will definitely reduce battery life. MB offers 8 yr/100k warranty
for the battery.
it does not have the range of Model E, but it does have the $7500 tax credit
at least.

by the way, VW e-Golf is coming to the States this Nov. it has a similar all
electric range as the B-class. A fully loaded e-Golf is $15k lower than a
fully loaded B-class. it is not as cool as the B class, but a practical
commute/family car.

from the conversation with the sales person, I felt the room for pushing is
quite little. so I didn't even try negotiating. but obviously you should
give yourself a shot.
the B-class ED had only made 41 sales in the first half-month after its
release, so if a local dealer tells you many customers have ordered through
him/her, that would not be true.
if you can wait for another 6 months or longer, I am sure the price will
soften quite a bit. though, if you live in MA, the state incentive ($2500)
will likely run out by that time.

only affects buyers with income over 300k/year
yes. it is manufacture-dependent. it only phases out when a manufacturer
sells over 200k qualifying cars

many more options will open up within a 2-year time frame. in addition to
the confirmed Tesla Model III, GM has a 205 mi Chevy Bolt in the rumors.
Nissan Leaf 2017 model also rumors a 180 mi AE range. Nothing has been heard
from MB in public.
