be ready to tell your story on the court date. I think you get
better chance than mailing in your plea.
It's possible that the court wont take a personal check if you go
there. Bring cash is safer.
The prosecutor will talk to you first, ask if you want to plea
guilty or not, and maybe give you a break after hearing your
story. If you have a good record, at least they would waive
the point and only charge you the fine (they only care | x*z 发帖数: 381 | 2
Yes. You may not be able to see the prosecutor but you certainly
can talk to the clerk, who takes payment from those who plea
guilty without a fight. If you need to change the trial date,
she is also the person you need to talk to.
You can talk to the clerk about this, before the trial date, which
should be somewhere on your ticket.
Sure. But most people would just plea bargain (negotiate with the
prosecutor without talking to the witness -- cop). You might not see
a real trial. | x*z 发帖数: 381 | 3
Negotiation, such as "if I plea guilty, can you lower my fine? Can you
not give me points? can you let me go to a traffic school instead?"
Actually they process you like a slaughtered chicken. They want to
process you as fast as possible to make easy money (my feeling), so the
prosecutor would lay out all the options to you and let you choose. If
you agree to take any of them, everything goes smoothly. If you don't like
any of the options, you might need to persuade him/her somehow. If you
