I have an overnight transfer, so no personal experience about same day
transfer. But I remember I talked to airline counter to ask the question.
She told me all bags are checked to PVG no matter where I go. So, it means
you will likely to pass immigration at Shanghai.
Unlike JFK, the cart is free at Shanghai, and they are available right next
to the luggage belt, so it was not a problem unless you are bringing kids +
