enjoy another double, then couldn't decide whether to pitch around
Yadier or not. After so much effort of retiring Yadier, he suddenly
decide to walk the MLB MVP Nick Punto--Nick PUNTO, as if Craig bats
200 points lower than Punto. Didn't things unravel fast for Washington?

until they get pulled. frustrating thing with garcia is that he can turn a
very winnable game into an embarrassing loss in a span of 10 pitches.
keyword: avoid giving up big hits/walks and big innings.

out Carpenter, but then he should have walked Yadier, instead of
that slugger Punto. Among the 3 of Craig, Yadier, and Punto,
apparently Punto was the last one deserving a walk. Washington
simply wasn't able to see more than one hitter.

On the contrary, they could get 2 outs if Punto grounded into
double play.
Let's also not forget: Freese got to 3B on a wild pitch, because
Washington had no clue what he wanted to do with Molina. So
instead of this mess, how about this plan: after retiring Berkman,
let's pitch around the red hot Freese. In the worst case, Freese
is walked, and you can still bet on Molina, who had 20+ GIDP this season.
Freese can't steal, Molina can't run, and the scary monster Punto
won't have to bat with anybody on base. Is this plan more dangerous
than challenging a guy on 10 game hitting streak? By the way, that guy
had ONE steal all season, and most of that guy's recent hits
had been extra bases. This is just way too much for Washington
to THINK.

Freese.
I just don't think it's a big problem to walk Punto in that scenario. Craig
had a huge 1-2 hit against a dominant RHP.

bats .305 with 14HRs, and hit game winning homerun in game 7 of
NLCS back in 06.
What did Punto do to scare the shit of Washington? 1HR on 150AB,
or a clutchy slugger reputation from his Twins years? Oh, Punto
is a great contact hitter, who had been struck out 11 times in
21 postseason AB.
What if Punto scored on Craig's double and Rangers lost by 1 run?
Can we still say that free pass to Punto didn't matter? I guess after
that inning, even Washington couldn't recall what the hell he was thinking.
Both Tigers and Cards showed great respect to Cruz, yet Washington
is still taking Brewers' recipe of challenging Freese for no reason.
