发帖数: 635 | 1 Carmelo Anthony denied this morning he wants to be traded by Thursday’s
deadline unless he got assurances Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni won’t be
around next season.
Anthony and D’Antoni spoke this morning to clear the air. Under NBA rules,
Anthony is not permitted to publicly say he wants to be traded.
The Post reported in Wednesday's editions that Anthony told a confidant
after the Bulls loss Monday night he wanted to be traded, feeling D’Antoni
and interim GM Glen Grunwald didn’t trust him. But the source also said,
Anthony would not formally request a trade from the Knicks.
Anthony hasn’t spoken at a morning shootaround or practice since the All-
Star break. Wednesday, he waited patiently for reporters.
“Let’s nip it in the bud right now,’’ Anthony said. “I’m tired of
hearing it. It came out this morning. I guess an anonymous source. I’m
tired of anonymous sources. I don’t want to be traded. I don’t know where
that foolishness came from. ‘’
Anthony said he heard from teammates even before shootaround.
“I got texts from teammates, what are we hearing, we don’t want you to go
nowhere,’’ Anthony said. “Nobody knows where it’s’ coming from. You
guys talking to anonymous people. It’s funny. After we lose a couple of
games in a row, I want to be traded. I’ve faced a lot of adversity in my
career. I’ve never ran from it. I ain’t going to pick today.’’
Anthony, who's had a lousy relationship with D’Antoni, said they spoke
before shootaround.
“It was, win tonight and not listen to what’s said out there about all the
trade talks, stuff about him, stuff about me. I don’t know where it came
from. I don’t want to leave right now. I’m here to stay,’’ Anthony said.
According to the source, Grunwald has had just one conversation with Anthony
since he became GM. And D’Antoni rarely talks to Anthony after games,
especially since Anthony’s return from a groin injury.
"We're on the same page," Anthony said of D'Antoni.
Anthony is not close to owner James Dolan the way Amar’e Stoudemire is. The
source said Anthony gets along best with assistant GM Allan Houston, who
eventually could succeed Grunwald.
Anthony is not jealous of Jeremy Lin’s global fame, according to the source
. Lin, the source said, is Anthony’s favorite teammate, and Anthony feels
they could be like the Thunder duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
According to the source, when Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri tried to
convince Anthony to stay in Denver last season, he repeatedly told Anthony
he never would be able to handle the New York media. But Anthony believes
the media has been the least of his problems and wished there was more
feedback from his superiors.
The Knicks are 2-8 since Anthony's return and have fallen out of a playoff
spot, as the Bucks own the tiebreaker on the eighth spot. The Knicks play
host to the Blazers on Wednesday night. Anthony is shooting 40 percent this
season and has had poor body language on the court of late.
