NO. Nature Communications 接受率是 8%, PLoS One 接受率是 >75%. Of course,
they are not the same. Nature Biotech 接受率 less than 10% (it may be
between 6-10%). So it is not easy to be accepted By Nature Communications.
Nature version PLoS One is: Scientific Reports (It will start to publish
papers in this summer). BTW, they did not add the "Nature" before "
Scientific Reports".
Interesting, we will see how the publishing business works in the future.

where did you find the 8% rate?
If this is true, I do not quite understand the point of this new Nat. Commun
. thing. It stated on its website explicitly: "paper published in...will be
of high quality, without necessarily having the scientific reach of papers
published in Nature and Nature research journals". This suggests Nat. Commun
. is aiming for a tier-2 journal at most.
In fact it stated "it has a higher acceptance rate than other Nature titles.

Don't know the 接受率 of embo report. Just know that PNAS 接受率是 15%. 接
受率 tells you whether it is easy to publish.

Now I guess maybe Nat. Commun. is an advanced version of Plos One, while
Scientific Reports a Plos One's counterpart...

very simple, just write an email to the Editor of the journal. They will
tell you how many MS they have received and how many papers they published
so far.
It think it is too early to say its IF now. It may be finally they merge
with the Scientific Reports in the future. We do not know how the publishing
business will go in next few yrs.
May be all nature titles will go away too. Only open access, and no judgment
for their importance by the Editor.

alright...I just do not believe a 8% acceptance rate. Even Nature is greater
than that... it is ~10%.

quote:
Nature is generally considered to be the most prestigious journal in the
physical sciences, and so publication in Nature is greatly sought-after.
Nature first has an editorial review which screens out about 70% of articles
as not being appropriate, too detailed, or not important enough. The
remaining 30% are sent out for peer review. Of these, approximately half are
accepted for publication. This yields a final acceptance rate, when
everything has been taken into account of about 9%. This number obviously
fluctuates over time.

Nature has space to publish only 10% or so of the 170 papers submitted each

OK, You are right. It seems that my information is old (it is a few years
ago, Nature website said that the rate is 5%).
Even though, it does not mean that Nature Communications rate cannot be 8%.
It published the papers which are rejected by Natures.

Sorry, just don't want to mislead here by my old information. I just checked
the PNAS Editorial comments.
PNAS rate is 19%.

My two point comments:
I recall that Cell editor told us in a talk that only 1/7 manuscript was
send out for review and 1/3 is likely to be published. Then Cell Met.
editor said that they review 2-3 manuscript per day. Mole. Cell editor was
talking about once only 1/30 could be send out for review. I am not sure
how true that is. I do not care because the accept rate does not mean
anything.
How many of you think you have a manucript send to CNS. We always said "Let
's try Nature and check out the reviewers' response". If you have such a
material. I say you have very good chance. If not, it is different.
Some new journals coming out with the impression that they are hungry for
papers. Science Signaling published ad everywhere for over a year for
inviting submission and its editor showed in all kinds of meetings for
attracting attentions. Do you really believe that they are hungry for paper?
I reviewed CNS manuscript for my previous boss once a while. I only saw one
manuscript from a big name with only JBC material.
Well, many terrible papers being published on the decent journals. Many
good work are not on CNS. It involves many issues, bad and good. I could
only blame for the reviewers.
If one wants to try lucky, do not worry about the rate. It is on his/her
lucky. What else does he care?
If one want to send manuscript based on the rate, Cell may not be the
hardest one. Try 7 times, do you blieve you can hit one?

I don't know when you heard about this. It seems to me that the rates of
these journals get higher than before.
"Cell editor told us in a talk that only 1/7 manuscript was
send out for review and 1/3 is likely to be published."
Cell is not easy, 1/7 X 1/3 = 1/21 = 5%. (may be increased now?, a few yrs
ago, Nature also says 5%)
Then Cell Met.editor said that they review 2-3 manuscript per day. (means
that they received less MS, giving the field is small)
Mole. Cell editor was talking about once only 1/30 could be send out for
review. (but they did not say the real rate).

a email from nature communication
Dear Dr. XXX
I am writing to express my appreciation for your contribution to Nature
Communications last year. Nature Communications is proving to be a great
success: since launch, we have received over 2400 submissions and published
over 200 papers, 44% of which have been open access. We wouldn't have been
able to achieve so much without the excellent submissions from our authors
and the peer review by our referees, so, on behalf of the Nature
Communications editorial team, thank you for your contribution.
Yours sincerely,
