Did you watch James Franco's "127 Hours"?

Sure will. Most time I am working (lots of OT) but I've been spending one
whole day every weekend hiking. That make me less "depressed" :-)
Guess you are in the field of ecology or something related. That's a good
field.
Lots of field works to do and enjoy!

a****5 发帖数: 747 | 21 I know where you are.
I was in the Big Bear Lake area last summer, pretty close to where Dorner
was hiding.
I was totally surprised Dorner escaped into the Big Bear Lake area. Since
he was an experienced cop and former military reserve, he should know
the Big Bear area has only one mountain road to go in and out.
That single lane road is pretty tough to drive, even in the summer time.
And with snow everywhere, it's simply a death trap.

You are quite thoughtful.
I think that might be a better course, since if I rush, the risk increases
greatly. (One bad move, one could be gone @z@)
I am also interested in photography (just a novice), to capture the beauty
of nature. So I may just take it easy and enjoy the snowy views there.
(3 weeks ago when I was on that "Lion" peak, it was snow & ice free, with
today's fresh snow fall - only pitifully 2 inches though, hope that I still
could have snowy views this Saturday)

As for the pictures posted earlier, while they are good,
I think their composition and exposure could use some improvements to be
better. You can do it as a post-processing step using something
like Photoshop if you don't have much control on the camera (a point & shoot
for example).

shoot
No problem.
Here is my plans:
Plan 1:
Go up Lion Peak 1 with 1000'straight drops on east & northeast sides,
without winter gear. Stay as long as daylight permits.
4500'/16mi
Plan 2:
Do plan 1, then rush down and scale Lion Peak 2.
5400'/19mi
Sounds exciting
ha ha ha

My tenure in LA is over soon.
I may do the last long solo hike with some cross-country hacking tomorrow.
It will be a 19mi/5500' hike, the longest and most elevation gain so far!
Some challenge, but doable.
I am little bit concern about the warm weather. Warm enough for the rattle
snakes to wake up from their winter hibernation. Also the ridge line (~2 mi)
where I shall do the cross-country has steep drops especially on the
south side. One wrong step...
