Both rooms reached 6S without EW interfering.
C2 was led in one room and H4 in the other.
How would you play in each situation? | b***y 发帖数: 2804 | 2 Still need to know how the bidding went, since it may affect the choice of
lead and later defense.
I would much prefer to be in 6C, but 6S is decent. | j*******e 发帖数: 2168 | 3 Good point. In the C2 lead room, the bidding went:
N S
1H 1S
3D 5S(!)
6S
5S: asking for club control
So club lead pretty normal.
In the other room (H4 lead) 6S was reached via a long sequence, and that's
the only thing I learnt:)

| b***y 发帖数: 2804 | 4 The question is, whether I should guarantee the contract with spades split 4
-3 (roughly 62%), or should I give myself an extra chance when spades split
5-2 (roughly 30%) while risking a club ruff. It really depends on how likely
I think C2 is a singleton.
If I play low at trick one, I am only wrong if C2 is a singleton, but I give
myself an extra 30% chance if trumps don't break too well. Since club lead
is marked from the bidding (almost regardless of LHO's club holding), I
think the chance of C2 being a singleton is much less than 30%. So I will
play small club from dummy.
Interestingly, with H lead, it may be right to win HA and play a small club
from dummy at trick 2, to keep control of the hand. | j*******e 发帖数: 2168 | 5 1. Bravo! C2 singleton or not, that's the question.
This board came from 3rd seg of semi-final in Vanderbilt. Declarer rose with
CA, only to find trump 5-2 and club 3-2. So C2 was easily the killing
defense.
I guess the problem is: trump 4-3 is not bad chance, and many people (
including me) simply do not have the guts to risk losing a slam at trick 1...
2. Now with H4 lead, does it look like singleton? If not, one can simply duck to HJ to secure the contract so long as trump not 6-1 or worse. If you fear it's singleton, HA and Cx is the play I guess.
