我看了好多帖子，大家都说不应该读MBA，而是要读另外的金融工程。
那么什么样的人适合读MBA， 读了之有又能找什么工作呢？
例如
生物的ＰＨＤ，在药厂研究者，想通过读个MBA，还到药厂，转成管理职。
这样既懂专业又懂管理。可行吗？

发帖数: 282 | 2 feasible. MBA is nothing in terms of difficulty. Yet it has a huge benefit
of networking. People who think MBA is worthless are either lack of
experience or too bright. Considering chinese students' communication skills
are usually very poor, MFE becomes hot coz you don't have to talk much
during work. But believe it or not, only those who know how to deal with
people can survive and move to higher management level.

And there are 3 most important area that could evaluate if you are FEer -
CS, finance and math.
MBA is almost nothing. Just give you a chance to interview again for a job.
Anyway, it is more flexible in job searching and easier to be a manager
level guy. The soft skill you get from MBA should be far more than that you
get from FE. |

nothing" or "is nothing in terms of difficulty". I am just curious how that
conclusion was drawn.

发帖数: 1073 | 6 MBA, compared to hardcore majors like EE, CIS, is not much in terms of
difficulty. I can teach a moron how to make a market multiple and discount
cash flow in 2 hours. It is as strong as the individual. Soft skill are
probably most critical to your success. It is how well you leverlage the
degree to your career, which is very very different from traditional
hardcore majors :D |

study. How many MBAs will put much of his/her time on market trend analysis
or DCF calculation after graduation? MBA program covers so many different
aspects of business and comprehending all those knowledge and applying them
to real business case is not EASY by no means.
MBA program is more focused on real business world and Ph.D more focused on
acedemic research and study. Very few MBA students are Ph.D holders. That

自己多观察,多学习,一样可以担当管理职务(当然这也取决与公司的环境和文化). MBA
不是必需的.

发帖数: 97 | 10 据我的观察， 在tech company里， 管理的都是engineers 做上去的，到一定级别，
可能要去executive MBA培训一下。 没看到过ＭＢＡ毕业的空降到某个manager级别的。
MBA毕业的可以干finance, marketing,但也一般从lower level做起，除非MBA前有长时
间的工作经验。

发帖数: 1445 | 11 The average work years before MBA,in good B-schools, are usually 4~6 years.
This is published by each B-school along with Ave GMAT score, salary before
MBA, salary after MBA and many other categories. You can check on BW or FT
to find out. And most of MBAs that I know of did land manager level job.
Near, you may have different observation but this is my experience.
As far as what MBA can do, finace and marketing are common tracks. others
include IB, IM, Consulting, Operation,.. |

好像MBA读完了，也是不能胜任管理工作的，除非自己原来在公司做过很久。
但是，从做技术的怎么才能转到做管理的呢？如果每天都是在做ＢＥＮＣＨ ＷＯＲＫ
， 那么根本也没有机会被提拔到管理层。 |

think you have sufficient soft skills to steer you through office politics
and get deep touch with your direct and indirect bosses, you will move into
management sooner or later.
But as far as I know, few chinese would even bother to talk to their
