salary for phd in upstream and downstream?
in terms of technology, there are a lot of space to improve for upstream
business. downstream has well developed technology relatively.
in terms of promotion or international assignment, upstream has more chance
to work in many areas except china. downstream has a better chance to work
in china.
any other thoughts from cheme fellows? |

a huge barrier for oil company to do business in america. i will know more
after starting work. |

. I would say there are a few things different now than 30 years ago.
Driven forces in upstream are #1 politics and #2 reinvestment.
(1) Existance of easy oil -- supply part. Easy oil still exist in middle
east. However, since Saudi have seen signs of declining of oil production
recent years, AND new discovery in middle east is becoming next to
impossible, those arabic people need (1) additional investment to improv |
