Ususally from Nov-March.
The coldest negative 20-something F plus wind,
you feel like -30 to -40C, such weather at most one week or so.

like I should stay here instead of accepting job there :-).

刚出去了一下，冷到还好，就是猥琐的小冰雹打得我脸蛋疼疼的。还好昨儿买了帽子，

New York is close sea while Chicago is only close to a lake.
Perhaps here you have higher pay.

actually you don't need heaviest jackets unless you like
walk during coldest days.
Most of the time, you stay indoor.
