polite. They study very hard. Some are from sigle parent families, and need
to take care of their little bro and sis. They know life is not easy at
their very early age.
They pass the test to get into those top HS. They are good peers for our
Chinese kids, I think. Believe it or not.

Wondering if you know anything about Skinner elementary.....
I have been told that kid can go to Skinner if he lives in skinner school
district. I tried to call Skinner but nobody answered the phone. It seems
that elementary in Chicago has not started yet.
Do you know which zip falls into skinner's district and is also rather safe
to live?
Anyway, thanks for your post and will save for future reference. :) |

(1) Elementary schools (K-8) (some classical k-6)
(2) High schools (9-12)
Chicago does not have middle schools, and the suburns have middle schools (6
-8).
All Chicago schools in the list are elementary schools, except for Young
Magnet High school, which has an academic center (7-8).

boundary is
Ashland Ave, don't remember east and north.
But when you get into the school, students enrolled through test and
students from
neighborhood will be in separate classes.

He came to the states when he was six. His parents sent him to a private
school first (not expensive, about $200 a month), and taugh him math/reading
after school using the books from http://www.teachercreated.com/retailers/
His parents believed in Chicago manget schools, and wanted him study with
kids from different backgroud, specially those from low-income families. In
that Nov-Dec, his crazy parents sent out application to 15 magnet schools in

我也可以考虑搬家。这和考虑学校的多元化之类的没关系。没人为了让孩子了解社会多
样性，交往各族群，呆在城里烂校的。

接触多样的社会搬到城里的，这顶多是个副产品。就象上清华，北大的没人是因为学校
离长城近而去的。
为孩子上好学校而择区而住很正常，中国人，美国人都一样的。看看更著名的Boston
Latin School就知道了。

new facility last Sept. and has accepted neighborhood kids.
The houses within (Loomis, Jackson, Throop, Van Bruen) are provided by the
city for low-income families. Only one blosk away, the houses on Jackson
between Lafin and Ashland are historic houses, worth 1-2M.
The Skinner North is a magnet school, and I think most kids in the classical
program will choose to go to Skinner North in the new school year starting
in one
