better way. So please share yours here as well.
The first year here, I was assigned to teach 6th graders, simply because
they didn't trust me, not the knowledge wise, but the the management wise.
They were correct. It was pretty tough. But as a teacher, I have to be
tougher than the kids, right?
Anyway, what I came out was a "V" shape or "T" shape seating chart.
For "V" shape, I would place all the "good" ones on one side |

construction going on in my school, I have to move around and share
classrooms with other teachers. Hey, I am flexible.
I had my seating chart on the first day of the school year--just to show I
am in charge. I made a few minor adjustments afterwards but nothing major. I
told the kids that the seating chart would remain the same throughout the

I like the "cool off"+" parent conference " part. But I have question for
you, when the student stays outside of the classroom, who would be there
supervise him/her? Or you have a "time out zone" inside the classroom?
Personally I dislike to make a parent conference, but I do know communicate
with parent is part of our responsibility, therefore, I chose to make a
phone call. Of course I have my Contact Log ready, |

in my student teaching school, first step when the child has problem is "
rethink", just simply put his head down, if the problem is till going on,
the next step is "safe seat", actually it's "time out" but called in a nicer
way.

Most parents are supportive when making a phone call or meeting face-to-face
. But the important part is--keep the communication line open--for both good
and bad news. Parents like to hear good news--a simple email or phone call
will do. Having a good rapport with both parents and students is very
important. I try to make an effort going to students' plays or sports events

observe other teachers' classes or hang out with kids. There are many
hilarious kids' language you can borrow to make the classroom atmosphere

that will give parents an opportunity to help us as well.
Being a coach or adviser is another way walk into the students' hearts. We
definitely need try to do as much as we can, but sinece I get baby, I
skipped that part for a long time..(Bad! Bad! Bad!)
