一些生活中常用的单词，美国高中生所掌握的单词，
这些单词包括SAT单词，和美国学生都必读的书辑（历史，文学方面）。
我的老外朋友说哈利波特是给孩子看的，美国高中读它根本不用查字典，
我读者发现好多单词不会。
我的托福记得是630多，我觉得托福单词其实很肤浅，
但是GRE但词不用考虑了，美国人都不用，跟spelling bee一样，
就是一个游戏。
我觉得只要重复美国高中的英语过程，英语单词，知识就绝对牛了，
提高口语自然也很容易了（如果没有发音的问题），就可以和
ABC差不多了
大家觉得呢？ |

normal conversational English. hehe As to improve your reading
comprehension, well, any source will do. Maybe better to just read more
recent popular publications instead of these archaic works. The only real
reason any kids would read those books is because they are forced to do so.

version only for book report writing purposes. hehehe.
To be sure - you don't need to read any of that just to be able to hold
normal conversational English. hehe As to improve your reading
comprehension, well, any source will do. Maybe better to just read more
recent popular publications instead of these archaic works. The only real
reason any kids would read those books is because they are forced to do so.

strict schedule or list, but more of a "recommended" list if you want your
student to do reasonably well on the AP exam. This is why most college prep
HS programs include british lit and american lit. Almost always
Shakespeare because that stuff is 100% guaranteed to be on the AP exam...
hehe
Everyone reads Cliff's Notes thou. That was a game-changer when it came to
reading comprehension I think.

再丰富,没法用最简单明了的方式传达又有什么用呢? 沟通不是人与人之间的桥梁吗?

美国小学三四年级里读哈利波特的小学生比比皆是，托福不过就是能保证你来了美国以
后能在日常生活中做简单的交流而已。
至于鸡阿姨，如果你念文科的博士，里面的词汇都不见得够用。即使是念理工的博士，
要想写出像样的文章和报告，里面的大部分词汇也应该理解掌握。鸡阿姨的词汇部分，
更重要的是考察阅读理解能力，我听一个美国教授说，如果一个母语是英语的本科毕业
生，鸡阿姨词汇部分得分低于50%，他们基本认为该学生脑子不够用（has trouble
thinking clearly)，不适合念理工科的博士 |

哈里波特我也没看，不过我估计里面很多涉及魔法，宗教，中世纪的知识的词汇
这些东西你日常用不到，学习也用不到，可能永远也用不到。这部分的英语词汇
和知识是亚洲文化背景的人最缺少的，可能其他欧洲人学习起来就很快。
玩玩网络游戏比如WoW,warhammer什么的可能可以补充一点这方面的知识，呵呵

发帖数: 236 | 42 美国人英语是母语，加上英语是拼音文字，小孩子学了phonics连蒙代猜大部分书都可
以读，我们觉得很难得词汇，他们可能听父母，父母的朋友，电视里面说了好多遍，想
想中国的成语，多少是你真的需要语文课才理解的。这样他们看着书，用phonics，只
要能读出来，就能明白理解大部分。这是拼音文字的特点。
我们英语是第二语言，学起来完全不一样的。 |

Avalon, Erogon,尤其是The Great Tree of Avalon， 里面有些咒语和诗句，我的感
觉是类似于中文的早期白话文的，有些字他也是在这些小说里第一次遇上，但是他读过
去就知道意思了，他一是懂得猜字根，二是懂得英语的tone。所以我们的托福650，也
很难说能达到我儿子的水平，但是返回来，我儿子考托福，未必能考到600分。这是语
言与环境的问题。 |

小学的学起（seriously）。
对一般人（非语言或文学专业人士）来说，高中就是母语的最高境界了。想想我们就是
，上了大学（理科）就再也没上过汉语课，小说也看的很少了，因为早就看完了（我记
得我小学3-4年级就读完了《西游记》《封神演义》《瓦岗寨》等古典名著，初中读完
几乎所有武侠小说）。所以上大学以后包括现在感觉中文水平还不如高中，很多古文，
诗词等等都忘了。

来，都是象以前国内儿童文学，少年文艺那么厚的，不到两个星期就读完了。

Harry Potter... urgh... It is a perfect example of lowest common
denominator writing, and the common denominator is indeed quite low...
If you have the chance or the drive, I strongly suggest reading the His Dark
Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman (The Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife
, and the Amber Spyglass). This series is also billed as "children's" books
, but it is written in such a FAR FAR superior manner compared to Harry
Potter, an
