Every rule has an exception. Just saying....

If the verb is a prepositional verb, it may be proper to have the [verb+prep
] unit at the end of the sentence;
these prepositions give specific meanings to the verb (e.g., take on, take
up, take after) and do not always
have accusative objects.
Sometimes what appears to be a preposition after a verb may actually be an
adverb.
