There might be some quality variation across fields, but UBC is definitely a
very prestigous univ overall in north america.
Top5 in China is close to nothing compared to UBC. They still have a long wa
y to catch up with the best univs in Asia

better than top 5 in China in some areas of engr. and science. Vancouve is a
good place... lol so many hot chicks. serveral yeas later, lz still can go
back to top 5 in China, imo, if you are sick of vancouver. |

1. what is the "potential strength?" i think Africa has the strongest potent
ial. 1/0=infinity, 2/1=2, 1001/1000=...
2. the measurement of academic strength does have different standards, but w
ith what standard do top 5 in china beat UBC? funding, publication, IF,
or citation?
3. can reputation of UBC be supported by merely bragging?
