here's the recent experiences of my students
"Just came back from applying for the Chicago Firearm Permit (CFP) today.
First, the address for doing everything is 3510 S. Michigan Ave., Room 1027
SE, Chicago IL 60653. Finding on street parking was easy. They are open 8:30
am to 3:30 pm. Monday – Friday.
Second, you must use their yellow (CFP) form period! The copy I made on
white card stock was not acceptable. They will give the official form to you
to fill out there.
Third, a little tricky requirement on the instructions on filling out the
application, # 11 A copy of the Responsible Gun Ownership Ordinance (MCC 8-
20) is required. They make sure you include it. They look for it and then
give just give it back to you.
Fourth, they not only take your finger prints, but your hand prints and palm
prints.
The whole process took about 45 minutes at 9:30 am.
Fifth, you still have to wait to receive your (CFP) in the mail at a later
date."

Another student was denied registration of her Walther because it had a
magazine that held more than 12 rounds. Upon receiving this denial, she had
10 days to file a written request for hearing in person with the city (even
though the letter said "in person or in writing"). She was given a hearing
within 5 days of the request. She had purchased a ten round magazine and had
the receipt. Upon seeing the receipt just before the hearing, the City
attorney agreed to let her re-apply within 5 days. |
