The new card's date is from the expiration date of my previous card. So I
suggest you file the renewal earlier. There won't be some overlapped dates
wasted any way.

I think it's up to 120 days before EAD expiration. There was a person
filing 6 months before expiration for EAD renewal, and got the new card with
same expiration date as his old card, because it was treated as replacement
card if you filed too early.
