(NBC) – A recent report says female soldiers are more likely to be raped by
a fellow solider than killed by enemy fire.

"I was told I needed to suck it up until the end of the investigation, and I
was told to respect the rank he deserves," Albertson said. "That was just
the general attitude. The specific words were, 'Marines don't cry.'"

She said she did not report the crime because she feared her assailant would
end up like the others who had not been prosecuted.
Some current and former women of the U.S. military have filed lawsuits
alleging they had been sexually assaulted by comrades.
The lawsuit named Defense Secretary Robert Gates and his predecessor, Donald
Rumsfeld, and asked among other things that outside agencies investigate
these crimes inside the military.
Some women say some assaults have taken place in combat zones of Iraq and
Afghanistan.
