We are excited to share with you some important news about your WageWorks
Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
On Oct. 31, the U.S. Department of the Treasury modified the “Use It or
Lose It” rule, which required any leftover balance in a Health Care FSA to
be forfeited at the end of the plan year. Under the new rule, you will be
able to carry over up to $500 of your unused WageWorks Health Care FSA
balance remaining at the end of a plan year.
What does this rule change mean for you?
This rule change limits risk of losing unused funds of up to $500 and gives
more control and flexibility in managing your out-of-pocket health care
expenses.
What should you do next?
For 2013, please review your current balance and your planned expenses for
the remainder of this year. Note that up to $500 of any remaining balance
from 2013 will be carried over into your 2014 account. Any balance carried
over will be subject to your 2014 Health Plan election and the associated
FSA eligible expenses (i.e., if you elect an HSA account in 2014, your carry
over FSA balance and any contributions you make toward the health care FSA
for 2014 will be restricted to the limited uses accorded FSAs for those in
HSAs).
Any carry over amount will not affect your election limit for 2014 -- you
can carry a total balance of the full election amount for 2014 ($2,500),
plus any carry over from 2013 (up to $500), for a total balance of up to $3,
000.
If you did not have an FSA before, consider starting one for 2014 to take
advantage of valuable tax savings.
If you have completed your 2014 Benefit Enrollment, you still have an
opportunity to start an FSA or make an adjustment to your health care FSA
contribution for 2014. Simply revisit your elections, make any changes and
resubmit your enrollment by 11 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11.
Please note that a participant with up to $500 unused dollars remaining in
his or her health care FSA at the end of the plan year will be permitted to
carry over up to $500 only into the next plan year. Although the carry over
amount can be combined with the maximum contribution amount for the next
year ($2,500), unused funds in excess of $500 will be forfeited. | s********n

may specify a maximum carryover of less than $500, or not permit any

发帖数: 2964 | 4 Too bad my company currently has no plans to change its FSA plan
administration for 2013 or 2014, although they are aware of the recent
guidance release. Hopefully it can be in place in 2015.
