A new furnace could cost you $1000 and up installed.
I suggest you change to a new AC system at the same time, part of the labor
can be combined. (unless you live in a area that does not need one)
This is assuming you have a gas furnace, oil or electric furnace price is
different.
Heat pump (ground source is better than air source) could be a better
investment if you plan to live in the house for long time.

一般heater就是gas furnace。
也有别的，heat pump跟AC是一体，或者oil burner之类。

发帖数: 4125 | 10 gas furnace+duck work? If you do not have duct to begin with, a new furnace
+ all the duct work for 6300 is not too bad.
But if you only plan to replace the aging furnace, why replace the duct?
unless old one is leaking badly.
加上装 heat pump, I have never heard of such combination, heat pump use
electric heating element for back up heat when very cold outside if air
sourced.
Does he mean install a new heat pump for your upstairs and new furnace (but
keep the existing ac) for downstairs? Assume yo

A dual fuel heat pump is an air-source heat pump designed to be installed
and to work with a forced air furnace heating system. The forced air furnace
can be new or existing, and can be fueled with natural gas or propane. The
dual fuel heat pump works in conjunction with your present furnace,
regardless of fuel type.
Does this make sense to you?

发帖数: 4125 | 12 Yes, it know what you are talking about, there is no such thing as "A Dual Fuel Heat Pump" It should be called "A heat pump with backup furnace"(as opposed to an air handler with heat strip backup).
I can not think of one situation where this kind of hybrid setup could be useful (or make financial sense). Guess it would depend on your local unit price for gas and electricity.
I think you will much better off getting either a ground source heat pump (vertical loop) or a pure gas setup. (if gas is

啊。原来的房子是全gas heating, AC colling. 我们这里气比电贵。
