To purchase a property in the US, they do not need to provide a ss# and if
there is no notary needed, just some sort of ID identifying that their name
matches the party on the purchase contract. If they do require a notary,
then they will need a passport but it will need to be in compliance with
what documents a notary can accept as valid ID. Same with when they sell it,
but if there is no ss#, there may be a foreign tax assessed.
