Pace: Slow but steady - expect to take 8 or 9 hours.
Start at Vincent Gap and hike up to Mount Baden-Powell. From Baden-Powell
drop down and follow the undulating ridge to Ross Mountain. From Ross
Mountain, retrace your steps back to Baden-Powell and down to Vincent Gap.

The main road that connects to Angeles Hwy is closed until at least next
year, so you must take an alternate route which will take 1.5-2 hours.
Here are are direction to the alternate route,
If you are coming from the west, take the Big Tujunga in Sunland, left onto
Angeles Forest Hwy / right onto Upper Big Tujunga / left on Angeles Crest
Hwy.
If you are from the east, I-15 North / 138 / Angeles Crest Hwy.

when I did the Triplet Rocks last week (which was in Bighorn area), I
intentionally travel in both ways on the highway to make sure the highway is
accessible. Very nice drive, btw.
On my hikes, I always prefer people stick in a group or at least have a
partner. Do you have anybody that go with you if you are only doing Baden-
Powell?
If it is just Baden-Powell, it is very esay hike, I'm sure someone else on
the board may interest.

Any one can easily take that hike and they should since it is one of the
most beautiful region in San Gabriel Mountain.

the trailhead requires an adventure pass which I don't have....
Here are essentials items to bring, fill in if I can't miss anything.
- 4 liter of water
- sun glasses / sun block / hat
- flash light or headlamp just in case we need to finish in dark (but most
likely not)
- jacket
- hiking poles if you have them, it helps the down hill to Ross.
- lunch, snacks etc.
- camera

The trailhead is in Dawson Saddle. You need to take I-210 or I-10 to 15
North to 138 east or north to connect to Highway 2 which aka Angeles Crest
Highway.
Dawson Saddle is 12 miles west the town of Wrightwood , pay attention to the
mile marker as you go, Dawson Saddle at mile marker 69.60. This is about 5
miles west of Vincent Gap.
Please bring all the essential items which I listed above. |

发帖数: 2672 | 69 Even though Lulu and I attempted summit Ross Mountain, we didn't. We were 0.8 mile, 500 ft away from summit. Total is about 13 miles, close to 5,000 ft elevation gain.
The three peaks are Throop Peak, Mt. Burnham, Baden-Powell, three peaks in a day is not too bad. The three peaks up to Baden-Powell was only 11.5 miles, 2,850 ft elevation gain. I guess that was easy part!
