我自己先起草一个呼吁,抛砖引玉。欢迎讨论分享。
We have come around the world to proudly call America home. Whyis this land
so dear that millions travel across continents and oceans to joinhands? For
all the people around the world, it is the land of the great, theland of
freedom, it is the land of prosperity and unending dream.
It is the liberty to compete and the commitment to excel, regardlessof the
color, gender, ethnic background, make America different from all
othernations of the world. When there’s such freedom, nothing is impossible
and wecan keep dreaming.
When any law or decision making allows color, gender andsuch to get mixed in
judgment, there is discrimination, even when the provisionis well disguised
with equality. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. cried out loud, “Ihave a
dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation wherethey
will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of
theircharacter…. let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from
everystate and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of
God'schildren, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and
Catholics”.
Let freedom ring! When freedom rings in California, it is thestate of the
proud, the home of Silicon Valley, the center of innovation andthe envy of
the world. The state’s higher education system is the backbone ofwhat makes
California stand out from all states in this nation. Those whobenefited
from this system in turn bring tremendous job opportunities and
otherbenefits to every single person in the state.
However, California’s future, once bright, is now at the jeopardyof being
tarnished. The prosperity that we enjoy today is now at risk of fadingaway.
SCA-5, an amendment under consideration in the Legislature would
deleteprovisions in Proposition 209 that prohibit the state from giving
preferentialtreatment in public education to individuals and groups based on
race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin. Preferential treatment to
individualsand groups based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national
origin is what Dr.King fought bravely against with his life.
Our fellow Californians and citizens of America, let’s onceagain join the
combat that once led by Dr. King and defend the freedom that ourforefathers
had fought for us. California is worth our fight. Let no governmentor no
politicians ruin the land of liberty. California is to stay here as a
stateof freedom forever.
Say No to SCA-5. |
