Sorry, haven't been here for long…
She graduated last year and moved to a different city. She's not my student
– I was on her thesis committee. I had written a (good) rec letter for
her postdoc application. She's lovely girl and we had a good relationship,
but nothing special.
Today I (quite unexpectedly) received a delivery of a large bouquet | V******9

I decided to call her to express my appreciation.
She said she experienced some difficult time the past year adapting to a new
environment. Missed her graduate school horribly, to the point of becoming
depressive. She wanted to do a few things (including sending the flowers
to me) but didn't have enough courage. She eventually did it, after talking
