introduce Grubbs' current fancy chemistry:
polymer template.
basic idea is to have a substrate binding with certain sequence acceptor
sites. Those acceptor sites arrange in a pattern or a line. Then target
oligomers come in and sit on those acceptor sites. Add catalysts in, and
target polymer got sythensis.
hehe. pretty fancy. Interested guy search his papers. Don't know whether he
published this topic.
cyclic polymer.
He can make [ch2-ch2] as cyclic polymer. The reason to make this is because

i guess first one did not publish. the 2nd one is well established, very famous.
still confused by the 1st idea. what 's advantage?
control the MW? or get well defined structure?

The first idea sounds a lot like the Molecular Imprinting idea Tanaka's group
did theoretical studies a few years ago. Looking forward to his publications.

it is also called screening length?

Just had a long vacation. I remeber that I read it somewhere saying
entanglement length, as estimated from viscoelasticity measurment and
theoretical models, is usually several times longer than the correlation
length of polymer solutions of the same concentration as measured by
light/neutron scattering (?) experiment. Forget the original literature and
the details, just this conclusion vaguely in my memory. These two concepts
seem easy to understand with de Gennes' drawing in his book.

Correlation length and entanglement spacing in concentrated hydrogenated
polybutadiene solutions
MACROMOLECULES 32 (4): 1212-1217 FEB 23 1999
as to screening length,
it starts to show up at the overlap concentrtation,
while the tube diameter shows up at entangled concentration.

de Gennes decribes the scaling concept without introducing the accurate
prefactors. it focuses on the relationship between two or more important
parameters. for example, tube diameter "a" with concentration "fi",
a---fi^(-2/3). while the correlation length ---fi^(-1) in theta condition.
