It's nice, convenient place, very affordable, and a great
location for working at NIH.
LOCATION:
9004 Kirkdale Rd, Bethesda MD 20817. It's about west of the NIH campus
through a tree-filled neighborhood, about a 25 minute walk from the
NIH campus gate or a quick 5 minute bus ride on the Ride-On bus 47
which also goes directly into the Bethesda Metro station or North to
the Rockville Town Center. Once in Bethesda, easy access to grocery
stores and shops. Half of us now have cars and half do not, either way
works. Parking available in the driveway and also plenty of parking in
the street.
HOUSE:
Split level house with lots of light and windows. Big kitchen with
electric stove, fridge, dishwasher, lots of cabinets. Dining room,
living room, closet space and back deck with big trees make the house
feel calmer than a busy city. Hardwood floors on the upper level and 3
upper bedrooms, carpet in the basement and 3 lower bedrooms. 3
bathrooms, central ac/heat, washer/dryer included. All bedrooms have
their own closets and nice windows.
ROOM AVAILABLE:
The room available now is a small room on the lower level. Currently,
a twin size bed, a desk+chair and a dresser can fit into it with no
difficulties. The room can be unfurnished or furnished with reasonable
extra cost. You need to share a full bathroom with two housemates on
the lower level. The rent is 550/month and utilities come to about
$50-100/person/month (internet, gas, electricity, water). I’ve signed
a one year lease, so I will sublease the room from now to end of June.
You can sign a new lease with the landlord later on.
HOUSEMATES
All housemates are working at NIH, 3 guys and 2 girls. They are
considerate, responsible and fun people. Everyone is the house gets
along very well. We hang out after work or on the weekends,
occasionally held parties in the house, yet we have our own lives and
respect privacy and personal space. I would personally prefer another
young professional for the room.
