currently reading Pete Sampras's A Champion's Mind, so far mostly about how
a kid loving tennis playing became No. 1 tennis player. a quit a lot
anecdotes of then great tennis players. not a bad book, although a little
bit old. |

has been trained independently for the past several years. She declined the
offer from Chinese governmement to share her training cost as well as the
revenue. He liked Li after he watched her interview on TV.
The final will be 9 am tomorrow, right?

分的就自然淘汰， 有天分的都是会到瓶颈的一节。 体制的禁锢往往在这一节就露出弊
端。（http://www.mitbbs.com/article_t0/Tennis/31560555.html） 相比胡娜， 李娜是幸运的。自己有能力签赞助商， 找教练。 原来一直是她的老公-姜山， 但水平有限。 换了Thomas, 打到澳网决赛。 Thomas也觉得李娜就这个水平了， 换了主。 有趣的是Thomas是去给重回网坛的Sharapova当教练。 李娜在澳网后一直沉沦， 直到很运气的碰到Mortensen， 最近三个比赛Mortensen当教练李娜成绩都很好， 前两天挫败莎娃更是信心大增。 今天的比赛我觉得李娜有6成的胜算。 体力， 步伐和心里都要比对手强。 Let the games begin! Mortensen became Li's coach during the clay court or right before the
clay court season. She stated that she was frustrated by her post-AO
results and also by the fact that having her husband as her main coach
made it necessary for him to be with her all the time. She felt she
needed a fresh start.
This Mortensen guy is clearly giving her great advice. He seems to
understand her strenghts and realizes he doesn't need to retool her
entire game, just adjust it a little. Yes, Li is still a big hitter,
maybe even a "basher" and she's still going to have some inconsistency
and some cold streaks. But, I've watched her matches and she really does
do some things smarter than she used to. She rolls more balls wiating
for better opportunities, she mixes in drop shots a little more. Most
importantly, she repositions herself when in a defensive position much
more than she used to. Pulled wide on the run, she would previously go
for a down the line winner or a huge cross court angle most of the time.
Now I see her hitting a deep ball to the center or high loopy ball down
the line so she can get back to the middle of the court. Not saying
she's suddenly the most nuanced player ever, but she's impressively made
these small adjustments. 2 clay semis (Rome, Madrid) and the French Open
final suggest Li/Mortensen is a good combo.
But, I also read that Mortensen was on a three-tournament trial basis
and that they were going to talk after the French Open about the future.
Li says she wants to continue with him.
