Briefly what happened: my 11-month-old son somehow got a serious fracture in
his skull （This is from CT image; from outside, there's no visible scar,
no blood spot seen from the skin; my son is acting as usual, no vomiting, no
crying etc）which we didn’t notice until Tuesday morning when his left
side of his head swollen up. We took him to the doctor immediately. Child
protective Service (CPS) and police got involved… After one stressful day
they decided to took custody of him until this case goes to the court. So
3am in the Wednesday morning we arrived home without our baby. And till this
moment, we have not been able to see our baby. We're fighting to get our
son back.
Regarding the fracture: Police thinks such fracture could ONLY be due to 1)
falling from high place to hard floor; 2) hit by very heavy object. My
question is: if that true, how come there's no bruise or blood on on the
head? Furthermore, I imagine baby would be great pain in such injury, he
would cry hard. However, my son seems to be as usual, eating/sleeping on
schedule and no crying. Could the fracture be due to other reason, e.g.
infection? One colleague told us his baby daughter had a fracture in leg
bone. Emergency dr thought it's due to extensive external force. But later
on, a specialist dr found out it's caused by infection after a blood testing
. Do you know any similar infection-caused-fracture case on babies? Besides
blood test, any other test should we request? Could you give me names/
contact to expert (站内邮件？) in this area?

发帖数: 496 | 2 The threshold for a suspicion of child abuse is required to be low in
hospital, and it is their duty to report to the children protection
organization. And the custody is the routine procedure for cases of this
kind. The PEDs will prescribe other test, like skeletal survey, and retina
check to try to find other evidence of child abuse, if no other evidences
are found, most likely they will return your baby back to you, while they
will follow up.
For the fracture, without browsing the imaging, I could not tell, but
generally, it is uncommon to observe severe fracture in kids, most of them
are green stick one. |
