j*******a 发帖数: 2681 | 1 Sorry I can't type chinese now.
My grandma feels dizzy for some time, maybe a couple of month.
She thought she is not feeling well since she doesn't sleep well.
Then she measured her blood pressure in the local small clinic.
She has high blood pressure 180 on the top.
Before she doesn't have any high blood pressure but developed within a
couple of month. She doesn't want to go to the hospital since her legs have
some problems.
Now she tried different drugs my mom bought for her after consulting doctors
. Her blood pressure is not treated well.
Or the side effect are not good for her. For example, she feels very thirsty
with the "urination drug"
Anybody can recommend any high blood pressure drug in Chinese?
Thanks!

d*w 发帖数: 384 | 2 if her hypertension developed over just a few months, it should be suspected
as a secondary hypertension. you should look for the cause. if she wasn't
taking drugs before having hypertension, then the common causes are kidney
problems, adrenal gland problems or thyroid problems.
what were her blood pressures before this happened?

She had kidney stones and kidney infection/UTI infection before when she was
at her 40s.
I don't think she had any symptom now except for dizziness.
Will these disease be asymptomatic?
What are their chinese terminology?
Thanks a lot!
Maybe a blood/urine test should be able to tell all the data?
Please eat baozi!

d*w 发帖数: 384 | 4 poor response to blood pressure drugs adds it to the suspicion of secondary
hypertension.
bring her to a real specialist working on hypertension. many of the common
causes of secondary hypertension can be detected by detailed history taking
and physical examination. but it would be hard for just us talking without
seeing the patient.
but let me know what her blood pressure levels were before this hypertension
occurred.
the blood pressure goal in secondary hypertension will be different from
that in essential hypertension. for essential hypertension patients of this
age, and assuming a long history, 160mmHg systolic would be an acceptable
level in some physician's view (there is still conflicting evidence and
debates, some of the conflicting evidence was a result of observations made
in different countries and patients with different other health issues).

d*w 发帖数: 384 | 5 and often for secondary hypertension, the patient should be treated for the
original disease, and blood pressure drugs are used mainly to prevent
hypertension crisis/emergency and complications.

d*w 发帖数: 384 | 6 while many endocrine causes of secondary hypertension cause changes in a
patient's appearance, thyroid problems may not, as well as aorta and/or
renal artery problems. so pay extra attention in evaluating these.

I will let my mom know.
My grandma refused to go to the hospital since she doesn't want to trouble
other people :(
We are working on that now...
What is the chinese terms for all the disease you mentioned?
I am thinking about maybe we can send my grandma's samples: e.g. urine/blood
for a test without taking her to the hospital.
Will that work?
Otherwise, I will ask my parents to borrow a car to transport her...

j*******a 发帖数: 2681 | 8 Before the hypertention occur, her blood pressure is not that high.
When she was young, the blood pressure was quite low, like 60-90.
It might be that her heart problem might have played in a role.
She used to have a problem that her heart is beating very slow.
I am not sure if she is recovered now. Need to check.

d*w 发帖数: 384 | 9 1. don't assume it's already confirmed as a secondary hypertension. it's a
suspicion based on your description. if it actually developed over just a
few months, the chance of being a secondary hypertension is pretty high.
2. "we can send my grandma's samples: e.g. urine/blood for a test without
taking her to the hospital." this will not work.
3. very little can be resolved if she doesn't go to see a real doctor with
training in hypertension.
4. regardless the suspicion of secondary hypertension, she needs a thorough
initial evaluation.
5. you can list the terms that you want to know their Chinese translation, i
will try to reply when i am on the other computer with Chinese input.
