Father and Two Young Sons Die On Hiking Trail In Reynolds County
REYNOLDS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Frigid weather may be to blame for the deaths
of a Millstadt, IL father and his two young sons.
The Sheriff’s Department says 36 year old David Decareaux, his eight year
old son Grant and ten year old son Dominic went hiking Saturday on the Ozark
Trail in Reynolds County near Black Missouri.
Police were called at around 6:30 pm on Saturday when they didn’t return to
the lodge where they were staying.
A search was launched but was called off around midnight when flood waters
made the trail impassable. The search resumed Sunday morning at 7 am.
The father and his sons were found on the trail a few hours later. David
Decareaux was pronounced dead at the scene. His sons were taken to the
hospital where they died.
