Last time I spoke to people in Atlantic City about Trump, I found few fans.
What I found, instead, was a whole lot of people who'd come out on the bad
end of business deals with the Donald.
One such guy is Seth Grossman, a local attorney, conservative activist and
radio talk-show host. With Trump climbing in the polls, I figured I'd call
Grossman to hear some horror stories.
"I used to have a security guard business and I contracted with him,"
Grossman recalled. "We're paying employees for seven weeks and he's not
paying us anything. And then he says, 'I'll pay you for three weeks.' Or he
might say, 'Knock 10 percent off the bill and I'll pay you.' "
I'd heard lots of similar stories about locals' dealings with the Donald. So
naturally, I expected they'd oppose a Trump run for president. Not at all,
said Grossman.
"Everybody down here is rooting for him," he said. "They figure he'll screw
the Chinese the way he screwed us. He'll probably screw some Arabs, too." |
