If China were to violate those principles, the United States, in
accord with the Taiwan Relations Act, will help Taiwan defend itself. We
praise efforts by the new government in Taipei to continue constructive
relations across the Taiwan Strait and call on China to reciprocate.
民主党：
We are committed to a “One China” policy and the Taiwan Relations Act and
will continue to support a peaceful resolution of Cross-Strait issues that
is consistent with the wishes and best interests of the people of Taiwa
