San Diego County has identified five new cases of coronavirus, and is
banning all gatherings of 250 people or more, county officials said at a
press conference Thursday.
One patient, a woman in her 70s, traveled on the Diamond Princess cruise
ship. A male in his 50s and a male in his 40s apparently traveled to
Colorado. Another woman in her 70s also was on board the Diamond Princess
and is hospitalized in isolation. The fifth new case is a male in his 50s
and likely the first case of community transmission.
Given those new cases, officials said, the county is assuming that the
county has entered a period where the virus is spreading through community
transmission, not merely through contact with other areas of outbreak. | r******t
