Stanford said to offer Harbaugh sweetened contract to stay at school
By: The Associated Press
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Stanford athletic director Bob Bowlsby says he had
made an offer to sweeten coach Jim Harbaugh's contract and is hopeful he
will accept it.
Bowlsby spoke Sunday after the fifth-ranked Cardinal (11-1) accepted a bid
to play in the Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech.
He says he has given Harbaugh a contract proposal and that Harbaugh has
indicated he will accept it. Harbaugh has four years remaining on his
current deal.
Harbaugh's name has been mentioned as a possible NFL coach or for higher-
profile college jobs, including his alma mater of Michigan if the Wolverines
decide to fire Rich Rodriguez.
Harbaugh has said he will not talk about other jobs.
