my relative is living in queens and approaching 65th birthday, heard there
will be penalty if you are not enrolled into medicare plan a, b...etc by the
birthday, however she doesn't have income in US and lives with her daughter
, and required to pay for plan a, b...etc, 600-800/month. Is there a
program to help her to pay for this? She is green card holder as well.

交。queens 属于new york city, 长岛我就不清楚了，应该是那个county的。 |

ACCESS NYC 还是继续使用mybenefits， 记得选继续用mybenefits,这个比较user
friendly. |

cut off time line for these benefits. I heard that residents came before yr
95 or 97(forgot which year) qualify for 食物劵和现金的补贴, the ones came
after that time line did not qualify for these benefits.

发帖数: 146 | 9 thanks, I just went through, this looks like the NY state benefits, it didn'
t provide assistance to pay for my relative's medicare expense after I went
through the steps. Now her situation is if she doesn't join medicare, there
will be penalties, if she joins, there are large monthly carrying cost.
Wonder if anyone has been in similar situations when joining medicare plan
on reaching 65.

I called Dept of Social Service at Nassau county to inquire,
their attitude is pretty bad. They just asked me address
and saying they'll send me an application form, and don't
want to answer any questions from me.
Well, I'll apply and see what happens. Will share the
experience once I go through the process.

65+ without income should still qualify for food stamps and medicaid.
Unlike many other states, 65+ greencard holder in NY doesn't even have the 5
year waiting period.

发帖数: 1 | 13 If your mom is over 65, you can apply for medicaid in long island, Nassau
county. It will cover all of the medical expenses. If she has green card
for over 5 years, then she could also apply for 粮食券。 but please make
sure that she has to confirm that she does not have any income, not in China
either. She could apply for 老年公寓as well. That is all I heard from
friends.
For the other person asking for benefits in new York city, I can provide you
with more info. I applied for my parents through an agent. I included her
number here. You can call her for details, she charged me $285 for the
service to apply for everything. My parents got Medicaid, 房屋补贴和食物补贴
, they don't have green card for over 5 years yet but they are over 65。
