One of my friends is moving to west coast from wilmington for a new job and
she has to break the lease of her apartment. However, the landlord asked her
to pay the rest rent of the whole lease term, which could be $4k+. She is
wondering if there is anyway to avoid all or part of the penalty.

I remember that in Wilmington, if you move 30 miles away, and because of
change of job, you only need 2 month notice to break the lease, no further
penalty.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
Based upon the information you provideded, we did check the state law.
However, it is applicable to job transfer by the employer but not to job
change. Are we missing something here? |
