I personally believe that your advise is totally off the mark. You state
that the purpose of good interview attire is to "make a good impression" and
show "respect for the process", but showing up for an academic trainee
interview in a "dress-for-success" suit does exactly the opposite. She would
look like she was trying too hard. In my current postdoc lab at HMS, when
people come through on an interview in a suit, people make snide comments
behind their backs |
