lesbian, explaining that there is a personal factor to his interest in
banning workplace discrimination.
“My niece is a lesbian,” he told the Huffington Post on Wednesday. “She’
s a school teacher. Her employment shouldn’t be affected with that. We
should have a law that says that, not just the good graces of wherever you
work.”
The senator was expressing hope that the Employment Non-Discrimination Act,
which would bar discrimination based on sexual orientation, will become law.
The legislation hasn’t gotten a vote since 2007, but Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-
Ore.) is working on bringing it up again.
Reid voted in 1996 for the Defense of Marriage Act. Last year, he came out
in support of gay marriage, saying his “personal belief is that marriage is
between a man and a woman” but that “people should be able to marry

朋友bla bla。开始的时候我觉得：怎么这么巧，哈。后来我觉得吧，其实好多他们那
些所谓的兄弟外甥侄女什么的都是八杆子打不着的，不一定多远呢还。。这大概也是美
国culture的一部分，他们往往怕对方不好意思什么的，就故意把这件事personal化，
一来为了让对方觉得很舒服（因为好像你们之间一下就connected了），二来也是跟人

(可以去算的，gay按5%计算，假设他的熟人圈有50个人，其中含至少一个gay的概率是
92%)
只不过说明美国的gay出柜的多，大家都知道。
