I checked the smart coach before I decided which plan to follow before my
training. Here is the one I got, just like other plans with taper:

Last 4 weeks milage are 27, 22 , 15, 35(including 26.2 race)

Your input of the target race is 5K, not marathon. It is impossible to have
24 mile a week with a 26.2 mile race.
Marathon needs much longer taper than 5K or 10K, at least 2 weeks, often 3
weeks.
For 5K, one week is enough, often just 2-3 days.

So the taper for half marathon also is optional?

previous week. The training for HM is much less demanding than full and
tapering time is also shorter.
