today's tempo sucked, only managed 6:43 on a 4-mile stretch in a 9-mile
session. still need some more time to recover from the marathon. in my past
experience, my aerobic fitness only come back to the normal level 2.5 weeks
after a marathon race.

It was actually pretty easy overall. Now that I have showered and eaten, I
felt like I haven't run at all today. This week I'm going for 61 miles.
One thing I noticed is that I need the "butt-kick" motion of legs to run
fast. I don't usually do this when I run at marathon pace but I do it in
shorter races. Today when I do 3/3 breathing, without "butt-kick" my comfort
zone is 6:45-6:50 pace. With "butt-kick" I get down to 6:30 with relative
ease -- in the sense that it was relatively easy on my l

don't worry, I'm not pushing hard, yet.:) right now tempo for me means 3/3
breathing. When I find myself
doing 2/2 breathing, I slow down. I adjust my tempo pace based on how I feel
, not on the readings from 305.

now I find it quite important to nap when you feel sleepy. not only it lets
your body recover, but it also reduce
the risk of catching a cold, which is a serious concern when you train at
high mileage.

Yes, the higher the volume, the more sleep you will need. It is said that
triathletes who work out 20-30 hours per week need to sleep at least 9 hours
per day, including naps.

rest for a few more days. Now I just

The race still took more out of me than I thought. My quads were sore for
three days. Knowing that weakened
quads put my knees in danger, I did most of my easy runs last week almost
exclusively with forefoot strike --
my calfs were relatively fresh and could absorb the impact. And I avoided
roads, going on dirt trails and
treadmill.

You recovery rate is amazing. After the downhill half marathon, my quads
were sore for four days...

I am really enjoying the miler workout recently,
it works very well! Try that.

你在56边的自行车道里跑,被撞倒的危险大不大?我觉得mission bay那边挺好的,就
是每次要开很远,可能跑多了会觉得风景太单一。但是高速路边上吸烟有害健康

That wasn't BSO at all. I was clearly in better shape three weeks ago.

我某次tempo跑不下去了,就这么分着跑的,每个mile速度提高了10s,加上恢复的时间,
跑完一点都不累,很舒服,还达到了speedwork的效果。 哈哈,每次恢复20-30s相当于
每个mile多
了个water break。也耽误不了多少时间。
