先上了45分钟spinning class。本来周三的spinning class应该是很轻松的,结果今天
这姐们儿估计是嗑药了,一个接一个的sprint,小腿抽筋两次。
接下来的10k本来是要跑9:00 pace的,chicken out了,9:30,最后1迈还是死撑过去的
。从locker room出来一口气喝了一升水

I'm curious about how the spinning class works. How does the girl dictate
what you do on the stationary bike? Do you just follow her orders or are you
somehow forced to do what she does?

You got try it out, at least try once.
I believe it's the best cross train for running, build up different leg
muscle strength ,improve cadence, and lead you to a much stronger core.
please note: it's different than biking on the road, i would say it's
different type of workout, so if you bike, and never do spinning class, don'
t be judgmental, be open and try it out.
i love it so much when my leg was injured early this year...
plan to go back, do once a week after SJRNR.

The instructor usually dictates an intense level and an RPM. The RPM usually
follows the music. The intense level you have to use your own judgement,
there is a knob on the bike that adjusts the resistance. Yeah, you can slack
, it's not like running where pace and distance don't cheat. But what's the
point if you cheat?

The best part about spinning is that I can do sprints on flat (high cadence,
low resistance). It's too scary and not practical to sprint 25MPH in the
traffic. What I don't like is the dancing on the bike. The bike doesn't move!
I don't quite agree with the core strength part though. Unless you have weak
muscles, which I doubt, it doesn't really require a lot of core strength,
even if you stay out of the saddle all the time. Yoga and pilates are great
for core training.

in order to spinning like crazy on lower resistance for a long period of
time,besides your leg muscle it's all about how strong your core is. next
time try to engage your core, you will see the big difference.

Hmm, I am kinda good at going long distance at a moderate speed (I have done
a 206 mile ride in 12.5 hours). What I have found most helpful is low back
muscles and tricep, interestingly.

again, spinning class is different thing compare with biking on the road no
matter how long is your distance or how fast is your biking speed, spinning
is about SPINning :D, spinning like crazy, imaging going downhill with
2000ft+ drop on a 55mph+ speed... you wont be able to feel a thing, all you
need to do is focus on your core, squeeze as hard as your can so you won't
lose the control on pedal...

OK, this is running board and I don't intend to continue the discussion. We
probably have very different feelings towards core strength. I am a yogi and
rock climber so to me spinning isn't really about core even if I spin at
140RPM.

That's pretty much my case too, actual walk is less than 50 metres,
literally.

it was 10km round trip last year when i started to lose weight.
4-5 times per week i ran to the gym to do weight training...

I try to avoid using the elevator, but my office is on the 21st floor. There
is no way in hell I can walk up after a workout :)
