Took two falls, my first time on the trail. One was quite major and got a bleeding had. It's a "fat ass" race, we paid only $25 and got well stocked aid station every 5 miles. But I was a bit surprised that the Race organizer didn't even have a first aid kit. I had to use water and salt to disinfect my wound, talking about masochistic ultrarunners...
Decided not to run after finishing 2/3 in 8h or so. The legs were still fresh, but the course was too muddy and rocky with one week of rainand it's even more dangerous than bear mountain at some point . The course didn't have major hills to climb like bear mountain. It's more like a rolling hills (with 1800 ft climb every 10 miles) . Didn't want to get injured. Plus the crew had already arrived and there was a lot of delicious food waiting...
Thank vivil, robinup and BillyIdol for bringing us a great feast! Looking forward to next one.
BTW, first time ran the tough trail with my cross country flat which already had 500 miles on it. Except for really muddy sections, it held up well and gave me a lot flexibility in foot and ankle. After a quick wash, it's ready for my running tomorrow morning again. I will probably use a new pair for my leadville adventure. | R*****s

apparently training for ultra: stealthy and low-key, water
bottle in hand, not too fast but very sturdy and strong
