L***0 发帖数: 1283 | 1 Coming out of May Queen, I knew that the first real climb of the race was
about to begin. At around the 20 mile mark, we will reach sugarloaf pass
which is over 11,000ft. The actual climb was a lot easier that what I
anticipated. The dirt road was mostly smooth and not technical. It was
practically flat by the mountain running standard. I couldn't understand why
everyone around me was walking. I was thinking, if you walk here, how would
you be climbing Hope Pass? I jogged up easily, passing tons of runners. I
felt absolute nothing at mile 20, no fatigue of any sort, not even a tiny
bit. Normally, even in an ultra, I would at least feel a little tired at
around mile 17-20, as I would be going through the first "wall" of glycogen
depletion. There was no such feeling at all this time. It felt, almost
alarmingly too good.
After mile 20 it was steep downhill on the power line trail. I was running
FAST. How fast? I don't know for sure because I wasn't wearing 305, but I
was pretty sure that at certain point I had gone under 7 minute mile pace. A
women yelled from behind, "whoever it is in front me, that is fine downhill
running!" That's about the best compliment I have ever received about my
running. It was such a boost of my confidence that I kept a fast pace,
totally have forgotten what I had planned.
I spent little time at Fish Hatchery aid station, as I was carrying enough
snacks in my camelbak. The next 5 miles or so were on the road, and it was
flat. I was almost complaining: I thought this is supposed to be a trail
race? where are the mountains? Later we reached a section of Colorado trail.
I felt strong on the climb and was easily passing every runner in sight.
The only runner who kept up with me was a Japanese woman. I told her that
she looked strong, and she seemed very happy but thought it was too soon to
judge. I would find out later that she didn't finish the race.
By the time I made the dramatic descent to reach Twin Lakes (mile 39.5), I
spent exactly 8 hours in the first 40 miles, and that includes the time I
spent at Twin Lakes aid station. Averaging 12 minute pace on such a hilly
course was about as good as I could hope for. Too good. I knew, that the
real Leadville 100 hadn't started yet. And soon, I would learn why Caballo
Blanco calls it Deadville 100. | m**k 发帖数: 18660 | 2 坐在沙发上,读的我伤心啊。英雄怎么又木右沉住气。。
